Uterine Biopsy (Endometrial Biopsy)

It is the process of taking a piece of the uterus for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

How Is Endometrial Biopsy Performed?

Extraction from the uterus or endometrial biopsy is used to clarify the cause of bleeding in women with irregular or unexpected bleeding. The fragments obtained within the method are examined in the Pathology Laboratory and stated in the report.

Why is Endometrial Biopsy Performed?

If a thickening is seen in the uterus on ultrasound, or when long-term menstrual bleeding or polyps are considered in the uterus, endometrial biopsy is usually applied and a piece is taken inside the uterus within this method.

Endometrial biopsy method is used in women with irregular bleeding after the age of 35-40.
